A thriving home improvement/décor company in Mason City, IA is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis.

Job Responsibilities:
  • This position offers administrative support to the Human Resources Manager for all HR related activities. Also provides general office support for the front office.
  • Generates requisitions and obtains approvals for all positions using Workday and Icms
  • Screens resumes, schedules interviews, conducts drug screening and background checks, prepares offer letters
  • Coordinates with Temp agencies and the MSP to ensure an organized, qualified and timely flow of temps.
  • Schedules and facilitates all onboarding activities for new hires
  • Sets up new users in Kronos; creates and updates employee information and organizational structure in Workday; teaches new hires how to utilize HR systems; enters applicant information, training activities into systems
  • Assist with administrative function related to LOAs, Short-term Disability; Return to Work forms for medical absences
  • Ensures completion of I-9s, HR compliance training; EEOC reporting
  • Coordinate with the Safety Coordinator clinic appointments, required paperwork, ensuring the company is adhering to necessary work restrictions, etc.
  • Greets visitors, vendors and applicants; maintains employee files; receives and sorts incoming mail; signs for deliveries; orders supplies; posts required documentation and employee communications
  • Supports employee engagement events and activities
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Associates degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources is a plus, SHRM –CP or PHR certification desired, Business, or related field plus 3-5 years of administrative experience working with the public is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient with HR Information Systems
  • The HR Assistant must have a high level of initiative, organizational and problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Must also be able to handle multiple priorities and deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information. A high degree of professionalism is expected in all interactions.
  • Adaptable and flexible; able to adjust priorities as needed
  • Excellent communications, time management, and interpersonal skills
