Overview

Our client, a leading nonprofit organization that creates solutions to advance health among vulnerable and publicly insured population, is seeking a full-time Healthcare Product Manager to join the project team. The Healthcare Product Manager supports the goals of promoting improvements in patient care and population health by supporting the dissemination of enabling technologies to improve care coordination. The position fulfills a leadership role on the University of California at Los Angeles Dental Transformation Initiative (UCLA DTI) to manage product strategy and stakeholder engagement to implement a Los Angeles Dental Registry (LADR).

The CHWC is collaborating with the UCLA DTI to improve dental care access for children insured by California Medi-Cal and Denti-Cal by developing and launching LADR. LADR is a customized version of existing technology called Michigan’s Dental Registry (MiDR). In collaboration with the project team, the Technical Product Manager will ensure that LADR meets the needs of the complex Los Angeles health and dental care environment by transforming the way medical and dental providers communicate regarding their patient’s oral health.  The goal of LADR is to improve coordination of patient treatment and referrals across medical and dental settings.

The CHWC’s mission is to improve the health of women and children by strengthening health promotion programs and systems, care coordination and the use of preventive health services. As a Technical Product Manager, you’ll have an opportunity to shape the Center’s overall strategy, and participate in diffusion activities to promote expansion of effective interventions to other states. You’ll work with a passionate, innovative team of public health professionals, analysts, technology experts and researchers.
 

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the CHWC Deputy Director, the Healthcare Product Manager is responsible for leading LADR customization to meet the unique needs of LA County, managing product analysts to assist with the process and working with the Altarum Technology Director and project team to execute LADR. This position works collaboratively with both the UCLA DTI team and Altarum team members and acts with a high level of independence and initiative.  Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead requirements, discovery and design sessions, working with business and technology stakeholders to identify how to customize LADR for health and dental providers in Los Angeles.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and review requirements and acceptance criteria with project team members.
  • Collaborate with the Altarum Technology Director on weekly sprints and work plan deliverables.
  • Interface and build collaborative relationships with the UCLA DTI team, internal and external partners.
  • Ensure high quality delivery of requested enhancements identified by the stakeholders and UCLA DTI team.
  • Analyze problems from a top down and bottom up approach and implement efficient solutions.
  • Work with UCLA DTI team, internal project team members and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of LADR and effective onboarding of health and dental providers. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA/BS degree from a four-year, accredited university (advanced degree preferred)
  • 3+ years technical product management experience
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering technology products/services
  • Previous experience managing technology products with an understanding of system integration and Electronic Health Record interoperability is highly desirable
  • Experience working with a software development team in an agile environment
  • Experience writing user stories in JIRA or similar tool
  • Strong core consulting skills--demonstrated track record of quality delivery, interpersonal and client relationship skills
  • Effective at managing change in a fast-moving and constantly evolving atmosphere
  • Proven ability to leverage analytics and quantitative methods to inform and influence decision-making
  • Desire and ability to learn quickly and work effectively in an agile environment
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a project team, with multiple communication channels 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
